Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand is small state in the northern part of India. It is often referred to as “Dev Bhumi” due to the numerous Hindu temps and pilgrimage centers found throughout the state. It is known for the natural environment of the Himalayas.
Uttarakhand is home to rare species of plants and animals. National parks include the famous Jim Corbett National Park, Valley of Flowers National Park & Nanda Devi National Park.

Star Trails

The crisp clear skies, non polluted Himalayan air offers a unique opportunity to shoot the night sky. This was my first attempt at shooting the sky, and what better way to start, with Star Trails.
A Star trail is a photograph that uses long exposure times to capture apparent motion of the stars in the night sky due to Earth’s rotation. A star trail photo shows individual stars as streaks across the image with longer exposures yielding longer arcs.
The image displayed on the left is a composite stack of 300 images shot over a period of 3 hours.

Brown-fronted woodpecker is a medium-sized, pied woodpecker with yellow in crown. White-barred (rather than spotted) black. Underparts, prominent black moustache extending to breast and black-streaked white underparts. Vent deep pink. In male forecrown brown, centre yellow, rear red with black rear neck. In female whole crown yellow.
