Damaraland

DamaraLand-Twyfelfontein

Damaraland is one of Namibia’s most dramatic collection landscapes. Hidden in the rocky clefts of Twyfelfontein which contains some of Southern Africa’s finest pre-historic rock art and engravings. One of the last wildlife regions, it is home to the the critically endangered black rhino, desert adapted elephants and lions, along with several other species.

Desert Elephants are not a distinct species of elephants but are African Bush Elephants that have made their homes in the desert. They are smaller in size as compared to their Eastern African, Etosha counterparts. They tend to migrate from one water hole to another following traditional routes which depend on the seasonal availability of food and water.
